The Sanity Project has published a searchable database analyzing the 167 major projects in Canada's federal investment prospectus, allowing users to explore the projects by province, sector, investment size, and development stage as part of a $1 trillion, five-year investment push.

-- The Sanity Project has published a searchable database built from the Canadian federal government's 167-project investment prospectus, allowing users to explore the projects by province, sector, investment size, and development stage. The database is intended to make the 66-page document, prepared for the federal government's Canada Investment Summit, easier for the public to navigate.
More information is available at https://www.thesanity.org/p/the-167-projects.
The investment prospectus was prepared for the Canada Investment Summit, held September 14 and 15, 2026, in Toronto and organized by the Prime Minister's Office alongside the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and the Public Sector Pension Investment Board. The prospectus outlines 167 projects across eight sectors, including conventional and clean energy, minerals and metals, ports, power and utilities, digital technology, advanced manufacturing, and transportation, as part of a federal push to attract roughly C$1 trillion, or an estimated US$721 billion, in investment over five years, according to Bloomberg.
According to The Sanity Project, the database simplifies the 66-page prospectus by organizing each project's location, sector, estimated investment size, and stage of development, alongside analysis of what the collection of projects suggests about Canada's economic diversification and what the organization describes as growing economic sovereignty. Minerals and metals make up the largest single category in the prospectus, notes The Sanity Project, accounting for 63 of the 167 projects, followed by clean energy at 31 and advanced manufacturing at 19, according to reporting on the document.
In addition, the prospectus includes large-scale entries such as a proposed C$57 billion expansion of the Port of Churchill in Manitoba and a Nova Scotia offshore wind project estimated at roughly C$44 billion, alongside dozens of smaller projects spanning every province and territory.
The push comes as the federal government seeks to diversify Canada's trade and investment relationships amid ongoing trade tensions with the United States. Roughly two-thirds of the listed projects fall within energy and natural resources, while data centers, digital infrastructure, and advanced manufacturing account for a smaller but notable share of the total.
The Sanity Project's database is intended to let users search and filter the full list of projects directly, rather than relying on summaries of the prospectus, according to the company. More information and the searchable database are available at https://www.thesanity.org/p/the-167-projects
